I am subscribed to the RSS feed of a couple personal finance blogs. I subscribed to them originally because I know that if I choose media that supports my goals, I will be more successful in achieving those goals. It does help!
What I did not intend, was for me to learn about housework from those blogs. However, I have! One of the most common sense principles of personal finance is to spend less than you earn. This is the principle that I’m finding applies to housework. You see, I only have so many hours in a day, I only have so much energy and I only have a limited number of resources for organization/cleaning. What I need to do in my day to day living is make less mess than I can handle cleaning up. If I make less mess than I can clean up, I will have a clean and orderly house PLUS extra time.
My housework goal for the forseeable future is to learn and live by this principle. If I can’t take care of something then “it” has to go. The item can either go into storage in case I find time to take care of/use it in the future, or it can be given away for someone else to make better use of.
I’m tired of being in debt to my house. I’m tired of my housework looming over me and saying in an ominous voice “You are failing!” So, I’m going to get out of my housework debt and learn to live debt free!
